Senior Purchaser (Ref: vt001)

Job Description:
The Senior Purchaser is responsible for direct buying to support VingTech's manufacturing in a timely manner and meeting all cost and quality requirements.


Duties will include:

  • Identify, select and qualify vendors who offer best price, delivery, quality and performance
  • Negotiate price and delivery of all purchased components to assure best total cost
  • Follow up with all vendors to ensure that products are delivered on time and meeting quality specifications
  • Develop and implement plans to maintain a supply of inventory items to meet manufacturing and contract requirements
  • Coordinate and collaborate with R&D team to ensure clarity of specifications for RFQs
  • Review purchase orders, claims, and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Communicate with all stakeholders to ensure timely update regarding status of deliveries, issues, problem resolution

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the defense industry
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, casting and forging processes, as well as various alloys and their use in the manufacturing process
  • Strong negotiation skills to resolve conflict and reconcile differences
  • Strong planning and inventory management skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand manufacturing processes
  • Ability to identify supplier requirements and qualify vendors who meet those requirements
  • Ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally to make sure ideas and concerns are understood
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and actively listen to stakeholders to ensure problems/issues are defined and well-understood
  • Ability to use judgment in considering the cost/benefits of potential actions and choose appropriate action
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to develop systems to manage timely access to purchasing information and data
  • Ability to manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of Wide Area Work Flow process/requirements
  • Experience using purchasing software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel domestically as required
