Position: Purchasing Manager
Location: Portland, ME
Manage direct/indirect strategic relationships including execution against contractual requirements, management of new product introductions and continued business development and oversight of the complete cross-organization value stream. This position will source, qualify, negotiate the contractual terms and conditions and develop supply plans for the purchase of complex materials, equipment or goods and services. Multiple suppliers will be managed in support of new product introductions and current material requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to create a structured, process-oriented and quality-driven approach to managing categories.
- Develop standard, measurable processes to manage suppliers and ensure the standards are followed.
- Manage project interactions with suppliers.
- Implement supply chain strategy requirements for the purchase and inventory of materials, goods or services.
- Participate on New Product Development extended teams to manage the transition of products as required.
- In conjunction with R&D, New Product Development, Supplier Quality and suppliers, determine product parameters and test methods for supplier control of purchased materials.
- Identify, qualify and implement the supply chain requirements to support business needs and/or goals.
- Develop and manage the strategy of existing supplier contracts and/or agreements, the sourcing and developing of new suppliers, and establish and execute sourcing strategies.
- Serve as liaison as necessary with other Supply Network functional teams, Engineering and Lines of business on sourcing strategies.
- Integrate customer support, logistics, business, service and quality requirements and metrics for the category relationship.
- Develop, write and negotiate the contractual terms and conditions for the procurement of parts, goods and services in support of various development requirements.
- Implement the Supply Network responsibilities on New Product Development teams, including make vs. buy assessments, identification of alternate sources, writing & negotiating development and supply contracts and development of supply plans.
- Issue RFQ and RFPs to new and/or existing suppliers for parts or goods and services.
- Work with Demand Planning, determine and communicate strategic demand plan for purchased products and services to support goals for manufacturing and inventory requirements.
Requirements:
BS or BA in Engineering or Business or several years experience in manufacturing. Experience with lean and 6 sigma. Contract management as well as negotiating complex procurement contracts and agreements. Experience with ERP Systems.
